This is such a beautiful reflection on the past year and on publication. We are both published by W&N and I think we even share a publisher, and it's lovely to see the echoes of your experience with mine. Sins of My Father (a very different book!) was published in March 2022 and I was also very lucky to have amazing review coverage... but I cannot imagine having gone through all that with a small child and a new baby growing. When I had my two children I was wiped from the planet, or so it seemed. There was a lot of looking inwards and staying indoors. I don't know quite how I would have put a public face on it all. Good luck with your paperback and have a good event with Caro. I am a fan of hers as well.

Thank you, Lily. I also feel wiped out from the planet and that I why I cling to writing! I suppose, I came to this book straight from maternity leave into a pandemic and the whole world was insular. I kind of forgot about the public side of things. I also didn't include other characters in the book, so fewer potential complications. X
