I'm running on fumes at the moment. Buzzing with work & life admin. Angered by the discourse. Worn raw by the heartbreak and injustices of the world and working hard at being a soft and safe place for my own little people and their big/little struggles.

The specifics of your world will look different to mine, but I imagine you too are holding a lot right now.

So, briefly, here are five small offerings from me. I hope at least one gives you a pleasant place to pause.

Something for the ears

My dear friend Annie Jael Kwan introduced me to The Sound Bath podcast some time ago,. The podcast is run by the cosmetics company Lush and focuses on activism and care. I still return to this particular episode from 2022.

In it, philosopher, professor, and poet, Dr. Bayo Akomolafe and aja monet discuss activism, what resides in the space between words, the meaning of love, as well as different ways of looking at the world and one another.

The podcast - which is run by Lush - is designed to be listened to in the bath and the conversation is followed by meditative music. If you can, I recommend following this advice and listen while relaxing in warm, bubbly water.

Something for the eyes

I’ve been preparing a lecture on the Tang Shipwreck, a 9th-century ship that had sailed from the Middle East to China before it sank in the sea near Indonesia on the return journey. It contained a remarkable cargo of more than 60,000 ceramics, plus items in silver and gold along with everyday objects used by the multicultural crew.

I like to think about these global connections, about peoples meeting for far away and sharing ideas and shaping clay.
